The Night Before Christmas (2)

‘Twas the night before Christmas
And all through the nation
Christians were gathered
With joy and elation;
To celebrate the coming
Of their glorious King,
Who came to clean up
Their hearts full of sin.

He humbled Himself
Came as a babe in a crib
Living on earth
To love and forgive;
Healing the sick,
The lame and the blind
The demon-possessed
And the feeble of mind.

He taught many people
Redemption and grace
To love another
Through the trials they face.
He went to the cross
To show His pure love;
To take on the wrath
Of His Father above

After three days in the tomb
He arose!
Victor o’er death
And the vile hellish foes;
Now He’s ascended
To heaven above
The Great Intercessor
With a heart full of love!

So come let’s remember
On this Christmas Day
The wonderful Saviour
Who in a crib lay;
Will one day return
No longer a babe
To gather His people
He joyfully saved.
