Missing the Beat

Your mother throws you on the street
As soon as the sun will rise!
Bottle in her hand
Glaze across her eyes.

There's one thing you've never known -
The beat of a loving heart;
To sing in tune with society -
Building walls becomes your art

You look to all your friends
Cos that's where you think you will find peace
But will they really stick by you
When ya hunted by the police?

There's one thing you've never known -
The beat of a loving heart;
To sing in tune with society -
Building walls becomes your art.

You do not respect adults
Cos of the void in your soul
Cos of the way your parents treat you
They make you feel so low

There's one thing you've never known -
The beat of a loving heart;
To sing in tune with society -
Building walls becomes your art

You build up walls of resistance
Cos your heart can't take the strain
You've been hurt once too often,
Been left out in the rain.

There's one thing you've never known -
The beat of a loving heart;
To sing in tune with society -
Building walls becomes your art.

You do bad things to get noticed
So the focus is on YOU
But deep inside your heart
You haven't got a clue.

There's one thing you've never known -
The beat of a loving heart;
To sing in tune with society -
Building walls becomes your art

There's One who can lift you from the pit
Of anger and despair
One who loves with ALL His heart
And for YOU, is always there!

There's one thing you've never known -
The beat of His loving heart
To be able to sing in tune to Him
You can be set apart.
