Would You go through this for me?

Would You go through this for me?
For me, O Lord and King?
Would One so pure and holy
Really suffer for MY sin?

Would You endure the loss of friends,
The loneliness and isolation?
Would You O Lord be mocked,
And be totally forsaken?

Would You endure the scourging whips,
The nakedness and shame,
So that Your Church could be Your Bride
And bear Your Holy Name?

Would You endure the searing pain,
The hunger and the thirst,
So that Your people would not die
But rejoice in joy and mirth?

Would You endure the Father's wrath,
Taking on our sinful chains,
So that You would have an holy people
Who with You would reign?

I can scarcely understand it,
I can scarcely believe it's true.
The One so pure and Holy,
My sins You would undo?

Jesus came to take the wrath
The loneliness and shame,
Be forsaken and beaten,
So we may have His name.

Jesus came to be denied,
He stood condemned instead
He came to lose His closest friends,
Who were fearful, lacked faith and fled

He came to thirst, and hunger feel,
To bear the Father's rage,
The sinless One took on our sin,
Redeeming from age to age!

He:

 still forgives,
changes lives,
We look to Him
for everything
Redemption is completely free!
We do not have to work or toil.
He can set us:
free from the
darkness life
brings, from
sadness and
sorrow & pain.
He brings us
Into newness
of life and love
and heals our
broken hearts
